Nick Kosir
Weather Forecaster / News  Reporter
 Email Nick

Nick Kosir joined the WMFD news team in September 2005 as a general
assignment reporter and part-time weather forecaster. Nick graduated from The University of Akron’s school of communication in May 2005, earning his Bachelor’s degree in Business and Organizational
communications. It was at The University of Akron where Nick began his broadcasting career at the young age of 17. As a freshman he became a member of WZIP-FM, Akron’s campus radio station, which is known as the #1 rated college-run radio station in the U.S. There he became a popular on-air personality, and after one year of having his own radio show he won WZIP’s “DJ of the Year” award. He was also a member of ZTV, The University of Akron’s television program. Nick co-hosted an entertainment news show called “The Lowdown” from 2002 through 2005. In February 2005 the show went on to win two national “Telly” awards for “Best low budget production” and “Best Entertainment show.”

After graduation Nick moved to New York City for an internship with MTV’s XM satellite radio station. After one week of living in the big city, he auditioned for and earned the role of co-host on a Brooklyn based television show called “Neighborhood Beat.” Nick also worked for VH1's “Hip Hop Honor’s” award show as a transcriber/Production Assistant. He enjoyed his time in NYC and describes it as, “One of the greatest experiences of my life.” However, after deciding to pursue a career in news, he moved back to Ohio where he was, shortly thereafter, hired by WMFD.

At WMFD, Nick is the Weather Forecaster and also reports and anchors news for the 5, 6, 10 and 11 p.m. editions of Newswatch.

In his spare time, Nick enjoys hanging out with friends, listening to music, and watching his favorite movie “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgandy.”
