As Ashland University gets ready to open football camp in two weeks, a familar face will take over at quarterback, Taylor Housewright.  Housewright was arguably the best quarterback Ashland High School ever had leading the Arrows to a regional runner-up finish to Piqua in 2006 and a state semi-final finish in 2007 against eventual Division II state champ that season Cincinnati Anderson.  Over the last two seasons, Housewright has been the backup quarterback to record setting qb Billy Cundiff.   Cundiff, who graduated, threw for 6,429 yards over the last two seasons with 61 touchdown passes to his credit.  AU head football coach Lee Owens say it may take Housewright a year for him to display all of his abilities.  But Owens also says Housewright has earned the position beating out Ohio State transfer Rocco Pentello during spring practice for the starting job.  Ashland University opens preseason football camp on August 12th.
