Crestview Elementary Honored As Ohio School of Distinction

Crestview Elementary School has been singled out as an honoree for the 2007-2007 State Superintendent's Schools of Distinction recognition program.

The award highlights schools in which a high percentage of students with disabilities is achieving academic success.

Crestview Elementary School Principal Tamara Webb was informed of the recognition in a letter from Ohio Superintendent of Public Instruction, Susan Tave Zelman.

Crestview Elementary School has met or exceeded the program's rigorous selection criteria. At each School of Distinction, at least 75 percent of all students, including students with disabilities, scored proficient or above on the 2006-2007 Ohio Achievement Tests or the Ohio Graduation Tests in reading and mathematics.

Crestview will be recognized for the honor by the Ohio Department of Education on the first day of the Office for Exceptional Children's statewide Special Education Leadership Conference, which will be held in Columbus Jan. 16-17.

Also on Jan. 16, ODE will issue a news release about Schools of Distinction and in February, will send a banner to each honored school.
