GALION, OH - The Galion City School District is launching a new support group in the community for grandparents raising children in preschool through twelfth grade.

The first meetings are scheduled from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. and 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church on November 16th.

The idea of the group is to provide a safe place for children and grandparents to help and support each other through this experience.

School social worker Carly George stated, "When I started in the district last year, I noticed there was a large number of grandparents who were raising their grandchildren and with a recurring theme that things have changed since they raised their own children. I will be there to support the group, provide some education, answer questions about school and life issues facing children today, and anything they want to ask related to raising their grandchildren."

Mrs. George will lead the group and occasionally involve other community members to provide information that grandparents have requested such as information from the school's technology department. which has been a highly requested source of information from grandparents.

If you are interested in learning more information or joining the group, contact Carly George at 419-468-3676, extension 14005.
