SHELBY, OH - Shelby Law Director Gordon Eyster is scheduled to be in Shelby Municipal; Court on Friday as a result of being charged with five traffic-related offenses, including OVI and failure to control, in connection with a September 22 motorcycle accident on West Main Street.

Eyster also faces charges of hit-skip, having no motorcycle license and wearing no helmet in the crash, which involved another vehicle,

Shelby Mayor Steve Schag released a statement Thursday that reads, in part, "The reality is we have been made aware of an alleged incident (accident report) that is indeed disconcerting."

Schag went on to say, "In order to eliminate any confusion, I would like to remind everyone that the office of the city law director is an elected position, not an administrative appointment. Attorney Eyster is still functioning as our city law director. I am hoping and praying for a timely legal resolution that will bring closure for all parties concerned."

Eyster is being represented by attorney Neil McKown.
